The UAdvantage First Year Experience provides an excellent opportunity for students to get started on the right foot here at UA. Between taking classes, having a Peer Advisor for your whole freshman year, and living on campus, you will quickly become an expert at the UA lifestyle. In order for this to happen, though, we expect that students actively participate in all aspects of the program.
All program participants are expected to:
- Actively participate in the online-only portion of their academic courses (first two weeks)
- Attend all face-to-face class sessions, Monday-Friday, 8:30-2:30pm
- Meet with their Peer Advisor throughout the summer program and then biweekly for the freshman year
- Participate in evening hall programs
- Participate in one of our Pre-Welcome Week experiences:
- Sorority or Fraternity Recruitment
- Bear Down Camp
- Week of Service
- Hall Involvement Team
Please note: Because the summer courses are short, only one absence from the face-to-face portion is permitted. Students should plan on being on campus for the entire time that courses meet face-to-face.
During the program, there are a variety of activities for you to get to know the campus and Tucson, like pool parties at the rec, intramural sports, and trips to popular Tucson destinations. Students in the program will also meet with their Peer Advisor throughout their entire freshman year to help keep them on track for a successful first-year experience! Students who participate in UAdvantage usually experience a better freshman year transition and have even secured career and major-focused internships or employment by the end of the program!
