General Course Information
All students will take two courses - a three-unit general education course AND a three-unit leadership course that counts as elective credit.
Both classes will be offered as hybrid courses: the first two weeks will be online and the following three weeks will be on campus once students move-in. This means that you will need daily access to the internet so that you can participate in the online portion of your courses. Worried about taking a class that starts online? Rest assured - we will assist you in learning how it all works. Just make sure you are communicating with the UAdvantage staff if you experience an issue and that you watch the how-to videos we send.
General Education Courses
The general education/foundation course for the 2018 program will ONE of the following
- ENGL 101 - First Year Composition
- ANTH 150a - Many Ways of Being Human (this class counts as one of the two Individuals and Societies courses (150 courses) that students need to take for the UA's general education curriculum for all majors).
Program staff will then work with orientation team and course placement teams to ensure that students are not registered for duplicate courses in the fall. Students are placed into these courses based on their placement information, degree plan, and course availability. Because of all of these factors, we are unable to accommodate requests for classes.
Required Elective Credit Course
The leadership course is EDL 297A: Topics in Leadership. This course will help students identify and develop personal and interpersonal skills that will support a successful freshman year as well as contribute to their participation in campus leadership roles. This course is co-taught: lectures with all students are led by the Program Director and smaller discussion groups are led by the students' Peer Advisor.
